Overview

As a key focus of the Borderworx business, our strategically located warehouse and distribution centres help our clients access both the Canadian and USA markets from a single service point. Integrated with our Customs Brokerage service, Borderworx can seamlessly manage transportation between our neighboring countries.

Borderworx has aligned with high quality and reliable carriers on both sides of the border, to ensure your goods are handled with consistency and professionalism; leaving your customer with a feeling of great service.

Our uniquely trained and cultured staff, thrive for the challenges that face this complex task each day. They know our carriers well and even know their operations counterparts with each partner. This gets them to the people they need, when they need them; to make sure your shipment arrives on time, error-free.

Borderworx staff handle all the documents, pickups, delivery arrangements for every shipment; leaving our customers time to focus on their clients and growing their marketshare.

Borderworx provides a full array of Track n' Trace features from online tracking, to our daily message board of every shipment and its status until it is safely in your customer’s care.

Consolidations Services

As a cost effective tool, Borderworx has developed a simplified consolidation program that helps our clients reduce time, cost and customs entries when they ship multiple items at the same time. More importantly, this allows our clients to have one truck collect all there LTL and small parcel at one time daily.

Furthermore, consolidations allow our clients to take advantage of domestic rates with a savings of 40% off international rates (typical tariff to tariff comparison).

Borderworx personnel will consolidate the customer invoices on behalf of our clients and remove that additional workload from them.

By using our consolidation centers, our clients can reflect a domestic shipping point to their market and place them on a level field to their competitor without having a physical presence and the cost to do so.

Returns Center Services

A value added service to our clients is they can have a cost effective, efficient way to have items returned to them without every return being an international shipment. This will save on customs entry fees and high cost of collect shipments from customers who don’t complete the shipping documents correctly.

Borderworx personnel will arrange the collection and even send the waybill to our client’s customers. They don’t need to do anything but apply the label and present it to the driver at time of pickup.

The returns center will log the item coming in and provide real time updates to our clients. From there our client can decide to create a reverse consolidation and reduce costs by bringing multiple items across the border at the same time.

LTL Freight Services

Borderworx has spent over 10 years testing and developing relationships with LTL carriers to ensure our clients always receive superior service. To our fast payment and accurate tendering of freight, our partners have come to prefer Borderworx shipments because we understand their unique operational needs; and fit our cargo to them.

Borderworx has proprietary pricing with many carriers and carry unique features that benefit our clients. Features such as waived ancillary fees that Borderworx negotiated on behalf of our clients. Instead of acting as a traditional LTL carrier, Borderworx always acts as an advocate for our clients; ensuring their interests are foremost in the carriers we select to handle their shipments.

Small Parcel Services

Borderworx has entrenched relationships with both FedEx and UPS. Both of these providers carry an array of services that Borderworx has determined which service is the best value for our clients.

With our combined use of both carriers, Borderworx is strategically positioned to react in the event of labor dispute at either provider; ensuring our client’s interest always comes first.

Borderworx works closely with our partners to react to weather, shipment deliver delays and other issues that come up during the course of your shipment’s travels. More importantly, Borderworx intercedes in all cases on a pro-active basis so our clients can have a hands-off approach when they use Borderworx to handle their small parcels.

Borderworx has developed relationships with key operational personnel within the courier networks to intercept or assist with shipments of a sensitive or dynamic nature. This role has proven results with many compliments from our clients and their customers.

Mail Services

Borderworx provides a point of mailing in both Canada and the USA. This allows our clients to take advantage of domestic mailing costs, as well as, a faster delivery of mail distribution in the respective markets.

Borderworx provides a mailing point for clients to receive domestic mail that is then forwarded to them as often as they require.

Utilizing the USPS services, Borderworx is able to take advantage of mailing rates on parcels that is more competitive than courier when the items our clients ship, can go by mail. This adds to the value package that Borderworx offers to our clients when we understand that one service can’t fit all needs.

International Freight Services

Over the growth of Borderworx, many requests have come to our management about handling international freight. The conventional way of handling this freight is to engage freight forwarders, who in turn engage other forwarders from trading countries. This process is often complex and never simple when something goes wrong. More importantly, the ancillary fees are often more costly than the quote cargo rates.

With that in mind, Borderworx set out to forge a new model for handling oversea cargo. Borderworx will only engage one forwarder in a trading country. That forwarder will be located close to the vendor or shipping point. They will use their own facility to collect and stage the goods for transport to either the airline or steamship line. At that point, Borderworx will take over the transaction; handling the arrival, customs clearance and final delivery. This often presents a cost savings from agents adding margin to partners’ rates. It also allows for a smoother landing in North America. Dealing with one provider for this service, integrates very well for orders that have to be split and drop shipped across Canada and the USA.

Black Box Service

Borderworx recognizes that there are times that a client needs a higher level of service that can typically be procured with transportation providers. It can be either a trade show or demonstration, or even an executive proposal that simply has no option but to be on time. With the ever present “Murphy” during such times, Borderworx has a solution that can ease the minds of everyone during the transit of sensitive cargo.

Borderworx is introducing in 2015 the Black Box Service. Essentially, this is a GPS tracking unit that is affixed inside a shipment or to a piece of equipment at the origin point of shipping. The tracking unit will ping a signal at pre-determined intervals to allow Borderworx to follow the shipment to the destination. Upon arrival at the destination, the consignee simply puts the tracker in the self-addressed envelope (unless it arrives already in one) and drops it at the nearest courier collection center. The tracker is returned and ready for the next assignment.

The real time tracking will provide the ultimate piece of mind for our clients and can be included in the cost of the freight or added to the cost for a nominal fee. Currently offered in North America, this service will soon become the norm, worldwide.

Overview

Before Borderworx could even set up operations and officially begin service, there were clients asking for this service. Many warehouse providers go to great lengths for IT systems, material handling and of course oversized buildings. Somehow they feel if the “show” is big enough and “tech” enough, the clients would assume that their goods will be in the right hands. Over the years, Borderworx has learned that what our clients’ value most is the responsiveness and the personal interaction with the people that actually handle their products. With each customer having a uniquely different business approach, it is no easier to integrate them into a robust WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).

Borderworx has always believed that a stable work force of highly committed and properly compensated personnel can often times, outperform an IT system that tries to overcompensate for the lack of talent in their workforce.

Even though Borderworx relies on highly effective IT tools and web based applications to monitor and record every item coming, going or staying in our building (“Our House”), we put an emphasis on the people that will handling those activities. Our clients get to know the material handlers by name and they consistently have nothing but praise for the work that they do.

Many times we have heard about ways to save labor costs and reduce overhead by adding a new device or program. However, in a world of “Just-in-a-Minute” shipping (Formerly, Just-In-Time) and progressive customer demands, our clients enjoy the flexibility to often go outside the parameters to get the job done.

Examples of this are:

  • When items arrive with wrong labels; need to be fixed and shipped the same day.
  • When a new sku is ordered and someone forgot to tell the warehouse it was coming; but it is needed to be shipped right away
  • A new item begins to ship and something isn’t right (color shade, components) and you need someone to help solve it for you.

None of these can be solved without a committed person that is familiar with our business and product. Borderworx believes our staff assignments do this very well.

Finally, all of Borderworx staff carry a Scorecard that reflects on their accuracy every month. A single mistake could be a costly one for their bonus that month and this have proven to be very effective to have a zero error rate of distribution for many months.

Warehouse Management System

Borderworx has implemented an easy-to-use online system for clients to integrate their IT systems to. Borderworx continually looks for innovative solutions that will help our personnel to access records and create transactions with ease. The value of our systems is to free up the staff to be able to interact with our clients as they need them to.

Our IT systems allow us to integrate at our client’s site or have our client’s place a terminal in our warehouse so we can update their records on a real time basis.

Integrated Accounting System

Borderworx is able to provide summary bills that include everything from freight to distribution. In fact, some clients enjoy a real time landed cost of their products in foreign markets when Borderworx manages the freight, customs and distribution through our integrated billing.

Most importantly, a client can experience multiple invoices for LTL shipments, Small Parcel Shipments, International Shipments and customs clearances. Borderworx is able to pull all of those charges to one central spreadsheet so our clients can see costs at a snapshot. And finally, they cut one payment for multiple transactions saving time and accounting dealing with multiple vendors.

National Control Center

At the heart of Borderworx’ distribution network is our National Control Center. This functions as part of our headquarters. From this center, Borderworx is able to GPS track every vehicle in our private fleet to know where pickup and delivery is about to happen. More importantly, if a client wishes, we can even let them know the truck is around the corner from them.

In addition to GPS tracking, the national control center carriers a morning briefing every day with all regions, departments and operations. This briefing deals with every shipment and confirms that items are where they should be every day. From that briefing, directives are issued and resolutions are created to solve potential situations before they even occur. This program has made Borderworx a leader in pro-active service to our clients and a primary value added benefit to their clients.

Whether it is confirming with a consignee about a pending delivery, or making special arrangements ahead of time, Borderworx personnel become the extension of our client’s customer service department to ensure the best quality service, every time.

Overview

In the ever changing dynamics of the marketplace, Borderworx has recognized the vast number of companies that have had to downsize to stay competitive and return market value to their shareholders. Often times, this reduction in staff can leave to adverse effects during peak periods and even normal activities that are jeopardy due to the staff reduction.

In some cases, Borderworx does enough trade across multiple services, which at no charge to the client, will embed a staff member on site to handle those administration duties that no longer have a resource to cover. This improves our client efficiency without and direct or indirect cost to them.

Borderworx has the ability to supply staffing for receiving, shipping and customs functions on site that allow our clients to maintain the continuity of workflow, without the head count. These services make the integration of our two companies so transparent, you cannot tell where the hand off of work happens.

Borderworx will hire, train and maintain the staffing levels that our clients need during normal business functions, as well as, react to increased levels during the periods of time that our clients feel the growth through our effective partnership.
